General Motors South Africa has announced a styling and enhanced features package to refresh the popular Chevrolet Captiva SUV for the 2013 model year. The changes include an update to exterior styling, added convenience items and an extended list of factory fitted options.

Vehicle Sales For May Continue To Experience Support Ahead Of Expectations

“During May the motor industry saw sales once again surprising with deliveries of new vehicles ahead of market forecasts, but at a more restrained rate that in the first four months of the year,” says Malcolm Gauld, GMSA’s Vice President Vehicle Sales, Service, and Marketing. “Most of the strength in the market is derived from activity in the private sector with sales through the dealer channel accounting for 91% of the total. Activity in the important Government and Rental sectors was somewhat subdued.

GMSA set to distribute 3 000 Kommunity Desks as part of 2013 Rally to Read

General Motors South Africa (GMSA) will be making a valuable contribution towards education in South Africa with the donation of 3 000 Kommunity Desks to needy schools during the Eastern Cape leg of the 2013 Rally to Read project. This takes the total Kommunity desks handed over through the Company to over 14 000 by the end of 2013.

General Motors South Africa and Suppliers Work to Reduce Energy Consumption

General Motors South Africa (GMSA) is working closely with various component and parts suppliers in the Nelson Mandela Bay Area to equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to help them reduce energy consumption and save costs in their operations. 31 delegates attended a half day workshop at GMSA’s Kempston Road plant on Tuesday 30th April representing 23 suppliers who manufacture parts and components for GM’s assembly plants in Port Elizabeth. The workshop comes after GM Utilities engineers conducted energy audits at some suppliers in an effort to identify opportunities to reduce consumption.

April Vehicle Sales Continue Growth Trend

GM South Africa’s recent product entries came in with a strong performance says Malcolm Gauld, GMSA’s Vice President Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing, “GM South Africa accounted for 5110 of the total sales for a market share of 9.9% in a total industry of 51,558. Within the GMSA range the Spark continued to attract buyers in the small car sector with 433 sales as one of the most popular vehicles in its class. The Chevrolet Utility dominated the sub-1 ton market with 1628 units while the recently launched Isuzu KB accounted for sales of 1047 units as the delivery pipeline for this recently launched vehicle fills up. The all-new Spark Pronto, Chevrolet’s unique small urban delivery solution, is now starting to attract the attention of Fleet customers.”
