Chevrolet Trailblazer – unlimited family fun!
- Chevrolet’s all-in-one lifestyle SUV makes strong impact on SA market
- Trailblazer sports numerous class-leading features
- Value for money from a trustworthy badge
Chevrolet’s Trailblazer SUV has been making waves in the South African market since its launch in October 2012. Spearheading a new segment for the brand in South Africa, the Trailblazer has been taking on the best in the segment and bringing with it an arsenal of value for money, smart features, class-leading attributes and a new way of doing things. The Trailblazer was also recently awarded as the top-performing SUV/Crossover in CAR Magazine’s Top 12 Best Buys for 2013 as well as being the winning SUV/Crossover in Leisure Wheels magazine's SUV shootout.
Trailblazer: a car the whole family can enjoy
With its bold yet easy-on-the-eye styling, which incorporates a commanding stance with large wheels and a bold body as well as a smart appearance thanks to the dual-port Chevrolet front grille, the Trailblazer appeals on all levels. Dad loves its large, purposeful wheels and meaty body; mom loves sitting high up in traffic where the view out over the bonnet gives her a sense of empowerment.
The kids however, love it for different reasons. There’s so much space! With seven seats and an exceptionally practical seating design, their best friends can come along for family fun on the weekend, too. Not to mention how cool they feel when mom picks them up from school in the afternoon, parked right outside the main entrance of course…
The family’s recent Easter Weekend trip to Magalies turned out to be great fun. With the Trailblazer’s third row of seats neatly tucked into the floor, everyone’s luggage fitted in snugly – even dad’s fishing tackle box and mom’s vanity bag. Not to mention the fishing rods, which were cleverly dismantled and stored in the Trailblazer’s sneaky under-floor storage box in the boot. Not one for a tent and sleeping on the ground, mom insisted the caravan just had to come along as well, which was no problem for the Trailblazer – with a towing capacity of up to 2 950 kg, it also makes light work of towing the horse box when sister has a show to get to.
Dad always loves getting mud under his wheel arches so naturally, an off-road trail and picnic excursion was in order on Easter Sunday. With 231 mm of ground clearance, short overhangs front and rear as well as a clever drive mode switch, even ambitious dad couldn’t find a trail too tough for the Trailblazer. Thanks to four-wheel drive, low range and a limited slip rear differential, the Trailblazer made mincemeat of rocky inclines, muddy ditches and even the steepest of inclines. Not to mention it was super-comfy over the bumps.
Great value, great spec, great performance
The Chevrolet Trailblazer is an SUV which ticks all the boxes. From its interior and exterior design, practical seating system, cleverly-packaged luggage area and comfortable driving environment, to its excellent ride quality, safe driving dynamics and immense off-road ability – the Trailblazer is tops.
And, the South African market has been taking notice of the Bowtie’s newest offering. Performing consistently since launch in 2012, the Trailblazer has seen excellent sales figures against its primary rival in its segment.
Chevrolet Brand Manager, Tim Hendon, comments: “We launched the Trailblazer in the last quarter of 2012 with firm intent to shake up the segment and the sales figures since then speak for themselves. With its excellent specification levels, great all-rounder personality, wide range of appeal and brilliant adaptability, the Trailblazer has done all the hard work for us. Not to mention its class-leading attributes, of course. As a value-for-money proposition especially, the Chevrolet Trailblazer is able to take on the stalwarts of the market and is finding favour with more South African families day by day. We’re not surprised, but our new Trailblazer owners certainly are, and pleasantly at that.”
